Francisco Azucena was a carpenter who arrived in St. Louis in 1903 prior to the opening of the fair. He went to jail in Clayton on February 28, 1904 for, reportedly, drinking too much, then assaulting an American in “jungle warfare style” (The St. Louis Republic, February 29, 1904).

Salvador Carrasco was a sergeant in Company A of the Philippine Constabulary. He died August 25, 1904 from suicide. He was briefly buried at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis before being repatriated to the Philippines in 1905.

Santiago Cruz was an infant who died at the World’s Fair on May 4, 1904 from croup. He was less than one year old. His ethnic group is not known. He is buried at Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis in the St. Vincent de Paul lot.

Maliquido was a Moro soldier. He died during the World’s Fair on July 3, 1904 from pneumonia around age 24. He was buried in St. Louis at Calvary Cemetery with a military salute.

Rufus May was a 34-year-old man who was reported to have been the first Filipino arrested in St. Louis. According to the report, he attempted to steal a pair of trousers while at a tailor shop with his friend Andreas Ortaga. He was most likely a carpenter since this took place prior to the other groups arriving. (St. Louis Post Dispatch, March 12, 1904)

Andreas Ortaga was a friend of Rufus May. In March 1904, they went to a tailor shop together to purchase American clothing. While Ortaga was being fitted for a suit, May attempted to steal a pair of trousers. He was most likely a carpenter since this took place prior to the other groups arriving.
