Cyanotypes of My Grandmother, 2014

Sequence of 70 cyanotype prints on Stonehenge

My family album was destroyed by typhoons in the Philippines before I was born. I had never met or seen a photograph of my Nana Laura who died as a young woman until I found an old negative, taken when she was around the same age as me when I began developing it. I made a sequence of 70 prints, beginning with a one-second exposure and ending in one five hours long. Spending time in the darkroom making the prints was a way of getting to meet her; a blueprint of myself from the past.
